Is Lymphatic Drainage a normal massage like Swedish or Deep Tissue?
Absolutely not. Basically, Lymphatic Drainage Therapy is a form of gentle bodywork that encourages the movement of lymph fluids around the body encouraging the removal of waste and toxins from the tissues. There are various “schools” of how lymphatic drainage treatment can be performed. All of them based on the same application of directional manual pressure to the limb and torso assisting in the drainage of excessive lymphatic fluid. Lymphatic Massage focuses on the Lymphatic System Flow whereas “normal” massages focus mainly on muscles and tendons.

Who can benefit from a Lymphatic Drainage Therapy?

Lymphatic Drainage Therapy can benefit a wide range of individuals, those who underwent some kind of surgery - including cosmetic surgeries such as liposuction, tummy tuck or BBL, also those who wish to detox and enhance the metabolism and the immune system. It's also a powerful adjuvant therapy in treatment of conditions such as fibromyalgia, digestive problems, chronic venous insufficiency, menopause, orthopedic surgery, osteoarthritis, post-mastectomy lymphedema, rheumatoid arthritis.

Why should I get Lymphatic Drainage Therapy after my cosmetic surgery?

After a cosmetic surgery, especially a liposuction, a tummy tuck, or a BBL for example, you will probably be noticing some hardness, lumpiness, hematomas,  and fluid retention in the abdominal region.  That is part of your body healing process - it's the so called inflammatory response, but if left untreated this picture can evolve into fibrosis (a permanent hardening of the tissue), or a seroma - we don't want that.

To make sure their patients get the best possible results from their procedure, most doctors prescribe Lymphatic Drainage Therapy after plastic surgery. This very specific treatment will bring down the inflammation response, significantly reducing swelling, bruising, and pain, detoxing and regenerating damaged tissues.

How often should I get a Lymphatic Drainage Therapy?

That will depend a lot on your physical condition and the results you are looking for. The frequency of your lymphatic massages will vary. In most cases, you can experience real results within 24 hours or less. after your first session, but lasting results depend on the frequency of your massage sessions.  However, certain conditions such as post op requires a frequency like:

  • first week 3 times

  • second week 3 times

  • third week 2 times

  • fourth week 2 times

  • fifth week 1 time

  • sixth week 1 time

  • more sessions if necessary.

Is there any add-on applied during the Lymphatic Drainage Therapy?

Normally not. In some treatments though, cosmetic surgeries mostly, some add-ons can be applied according to the case and the aimed results. Add-ons such as Radio Frequency, Cavitation, NIF Therapy, Cold Laser are available to aggregate on the treatment if necessary. The client is always educated about its application and benefits, and in some cases the doctor will be consulted for consent. See my add-ons
